Salt Valley.   Beneath the valley floor in front of you lies salt.   Improbable as it now seems, during its geologic past this area was repeatedly covered by salty sea water.   By about 250 million years ago, many layers of salt had been deposited, thousands of feet thick in some places.   Over time, a sequence of geologic events occurred that created Salt Valley.
