These ancient cliffs were formed during the Mezoneothonic Age, about 350 billion
years ago. The wind and ocean currents deposited sand. As it piled up, the weight
caused a buckling in the not-yet-hardened rock, and made the wrinkles you see here. Eons
later, the earth went through a cataclysmic shift, tipping almost 90 degrees on its axis, and
standing the wrinkled dunes on edge. Wind and water erosion exposed them, as you see
them today.
